Looks like He's been hitting the weight room - now THERE'S a guy who could clear out a Temple!

In this corner, in the Lenten purple trunks, weighing in at two talents, three mina, two pim, and a beka, give or take a gerah... at three cubits, one span, and two and a half handsbreaths... undefeated at 37-0 and three denials by Peter...

Ayiyi. What was the South Park Michael Buffer line from "Damien?"

In the blue corner, wearing white trunks, weighing in at a mere 140 pounds, Jesus "El Saviorrrrrrrrrrr," Christ! [the crowd cheers] And in the very, very black corner, wearing very, very black trunks, the king of all that is evil, Beeeeeelzebub! [the crowd cheers. Jesus stares at them, and they look away, embarrassed] Ladies and gentlemen, Leeeeeet's get ready to rumbbbbbbbblllle!

It's nice to see Jesus as a strong man and not a winp.

WOW! As always, I am looking forward to eternal nuptuals!

I'm sorry folks but this makes me so sick I can't even look at it. I had to move the comments box over it as I write! This is probably why the ancient Hebrews were forbidden to portray God.

JanJan — I am with you! This is awful and soooo commericalized... sigh .

I hate it too. Jesus is not my boyfriend! He is our Saviour. Yikes..it's like Fabio or something! Those pictures belong on a romance novel!

I though the same thing when I saw it, Donna; it looks like the cover illustrations of those trashy romance novels I had to prepare for circulation when I worked in the library. Yuck! I can only hope it wasn't painted by a woman; maybe the man who painted it didn't realize what he was doing. Maybe a woman's eyes see things differently than a man's.

Cue the Bill Conti music.

Yo, St. Aaaaaaaaadrian!!!

Nicene Creed or Apollo Creed?

I don't like it.

Would Jesus be a wild slugger or a scientific boxer? Boy, is there a story I could tell on that one! But the world is not yet ready, and neither am I. Someday....I promise.

I know I've told this story somewhere on St. Blogs before (maybe here; maybe not). But I remember when I was a student at Notre Dame in the early 90s, seeing two guys who were in formation at the Moreau Seminary entering the Bengal Bouts intramural boxing tournament. I remember thinking, "I'd hate to be the guy fighting him." I mean -- if you lose, you'll never live it down -- you got beat up by a priest and all that. If you win, you'll feel guilty for beating up a priest and will forever risk going into confessional and running into The Priest Whose Nose You Flattened. And having to obey his penance command ... "Um, OK, Padre ... can we do a do-over instead, when I let you knock me out this time around."

Were you one of those two seminarians ... or something like that, Father Matthew.
